American Journal of Internal Medicine Publishes Vaginal Dosing Study Evaluation – Topi-CLICK Perl® Vaginal Dosing System Revealed as Most Accurate Method

October 23rd, 2019

Woodstock (Atlanta), Ga. Oct. 23, 2019 – The study evaluation, published in the American Journal of Internal Medicine, concludes ”the Topi-CLICK Perl® Vaginal Dosing System performed with a high level of accuracy and precision in delivering doses of feminine creams, outperforming other tested devices in all measures.”¹

“Currently, intra-vaginal medications are used for contraception, hormone replacement therapy, cervical cancer treatment and anti-fungal therapy.”¹ “There are some advantages of vaginal drug delivery, for example, it bypasses first pass metabolism in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver, increases bioavailability, and has a quick onset of action.  The GI effects such as nausea and vomiting that is prevalent with most oral medication are also reduced.”¹

The scientific research, Single-Blinded Feminine Dosing Study²  by Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL), evaluated the accuracy, precision, and residual of medication dispensed using five different dosing methods for topical feminine medications. Ease-of-use based on testers’ observations during each dispensing cycle was a secondary objective of the study.

Results concluded that Topi-CLICK Perl® outperformed all tested methods and testers observed that it was the easiest to use of all vaginal dosing systems in the study.  Plastic tubes required frequent priming and were difficult for operators to squeeze.  Metal tubes tended to be messy and cream continued to dispense even after pressure was released.

Tim Phipps, President of DoseLogix, said, “Healthcare providers and pharmacists will find this study to be a valuable resource in determining the most accurate method when prescribing vaginal dosing for patients. As an innovator in the industry since 2007, we’ve devoted years of research and development into designing and manufacturing the best metered-dosing applicators in the market.  This latest Feminine Dosing Study by ARL confirms that Topi-CLICK Perl® will deliver a more accurate, consistent and easier-to-use vaginal dose than traditional methods and may help improve patient outcomes.”
